Magyarországon kevéssé ismert a holodomor története, mely szó szerint éhhalált jelent. 1932-ben illetve '33-ban a kommunista terror emberi ésszel felfoghatatlan fokozatba kapcsolt. A gabonatermést szinte teljes egészében kellett beszolgáltatni a szovjet pártvezetésnek. Ezzel párhuzamosan emelték az élelmiszerlopás büntetési tételét. A kulákokokat mind halálraítélték, a parasztságot 10 év kényszermunkára. A térségből való szökési kísérleteket, a nemzetközi közvélemény tájékoztatását ugyanígy büntették.
A holodomor áldozatainak pontos száma a mai napig ismeretlen. A kutatók 3,5 millió és 7,5 millió fő közé becsülik azoknak a számát, akiket éhhalálra ítélt a sztálini Szovjetunió.
Az áldozatok előtt tisztelegve, illetve a Nemzetek Európájába vetett bizalommal gyújtottuk meg mécseseinket a budapesti holodomor emlékműnél. Az emlékezés lángjai összekötik Közép- és Kelet-Európa fiait, hiszen ha valaki, akkor mi mind tudjuk, hogy mit is jelentett a kommunizmus gyakorlati megvalósítása. A Radikális Szövetség tagjaiként küzdünk azért, hogy a jövőben együttes erővel állhassuk útját minden hasonló törekvésnek.

We remembered to the victims of Holodomor
In the 23th of October at Uzhhorod (Ungvár), members of Karpatska Sich saluted to our anti-bolshevik freedom-uprising of 1956. In reciprocation of our comrades gesture, we remembered to the victims of Holodomor with lighting our candles on the 27th of November, in Budapest.
It is not so common in Hungary to know about the Holodomor, which literally means starvation. The communist terror switched to a inconceivable level in 1932 and ’33. Almost the whole harvested grain had to be handed over to the leadership of the Soviet party. In parallel, the penalty for food theft has been raised. The kulaks were all sentenced to death, and the peasantry for 10 years of forced labor. Attempts to escape from the region and to inform the international public were punished in the same way.
The exact number of Holodomor victims is still unknown. Researchers estimate the number of people between 3.5 million and 7.5 million who were starved to the death by the Stalinist Soviet Union.
To honor the victims and with confidence in the Europe of Nations, we lighted our candles at the Holodomor Monument in Budapest. The flames of remembrance connect the sons of Central and Eastern Europe, because we all know what the practical realization of communism meant. As members of the Radical Alliance, we are fighting to prevent all similar efforts in the future.
